Queen of the South end winless streak with narrow victory over Morton
Queen of the South pulled out a gritty 1-0 scoreline at home to Morton to end a seven-match streak without a win.
Derek Lyle was quick with his head early on to convert a cross by Alex Harris, and the Doonhamers soon threatened a second.
Ryan Conroy's shot trickled agonisingly wide of Derek Gaston's net, and, shortly after, Harris' long-range effort was tipped over.
The failure to score a second nearly cost the home side. Morton crept back into the game as it wore on, and the Palmerston Park club soon found themselves hanging on. Alex Samuel had a shot from eight yards out for Jim Duffy's men, but it went over.
