I live in Tucson Arizona USA and have been an avid football fan since I was introduced to it while living in Germany as a youth. I fell in love with the passion and excitement that the sport offered. The fans are relentless in their pursuit of support.
It was great to see such ardent support in a team and how massive the followings were worldwide (except in the US I noticed). I began following Bayern Munchen and then Manchester United in '87. It just branched out from there. I have always loved following the greats of the sport and visiting as many of the stadiums as I could.
When I moved back to the states I noticed that the fans here were sheltered and didn't have the same enthusiasm that the Europeans or Latin fans had.They shared their love of the game differently, so being completely kitted out and scarf in tow I set out to convert as many fans as I could. It has been a whirlwind journey to say the least and I have learned a lot since I was just a lad back in Europe, but my passion for the game has never wavered, even in the face of adversity. (The rednecks of the South are a hard group to change their minds, more on that some other time).
I follow a lot of different teams, love the players and bosses. I have stayed true to the Reds in both countries, but maintain an unbiased assessment of my teams in comparison to all the others. I am a fan at heart and a writer with soul and passion.
