I'm a born and bred Mancunian now living in Basel, Switzerland. Football has been an ever present part of my life and identity. From obsessive fan, amateur player, supporter and cultural appreciator, my admiration of the game has gone through many phases. I have been fortunate to travel the world and have seen the influence this wonderful sport has on people and how it can bring us together. I also think I know a bit about the game, tactically and factually, but it still amazes me how many different opinions a single incident within a match can provoke. Hopefully my articles will bring some smiles or nods of agreement as I try to combine nostalgia, humour and incite with relevance to the modern game.
