Yossi Benayoun Biography
Yossi Benayoun is an experienced midfield playmaker who signed for Chelsea in July 2010, having spent the three previous years at Liverpool.
Yossi began his senior career in Israel with Hapoel Be'er Sheva, and later played for Maccabi Haifa before moving to Europe for a three-year spell with Racing Santander. In the summer of 2005 he signed for West Ham, gaining an FA Cup runners-up medal in his first season with the club.
He took some time to establish himself with the Reds, partly because of competition for his preferred role in a position just behind the main strikers. Apparently frustrated at the lack of opportunities, he signed for Chelsea at the end of the 2009-10 season, but suffered an achilles injury early in the season which kept him sidelined for over six months.
Yossi made his international debut for Israel back in November 1998 and currently serves as the team's captain. He moved on to Arsenal at the end of the August 2011 transfer window.
