Wayne Rooney Biography

A hugely gifted forward and talisman for Manchester United and England.

Blessed with wonderful natural ability and a terrific appetite for the game, he is one of the game’s biggest stars and brightest talents. Always busy and inventive, Wayne possesses a rare blend of skill and application and in recent years has become more clinical in front of goal, twice exceeding thirty club goals in the last three years and earning Goal of the Season honours in 2010-11 for his exhilarating overhead kick against Manchester City that made headlines on back pages all over the world.

Wayne was a teenage prodigy at his boyhood club Everton where he burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old, but after two seasons at Goodison he moved to United on the last day of the 2004 summer transfer window.

A debut hat-trick was a fairytale way for Wayne to begin his career at Old Trafford, and over time his decision to leave Everton has been vindicated, for he has been at the heart of a United side that has since won four league titles, as well as the 2008 Champions League.

Wayne was England’s youngest ever international when he made his debut against Australia in February 2003 and he has gone on to amass 76 caps since, firmly establishing himself as his country’s finest player and brightest hope.
