Wayne Bridge is an experienced, no nonsense left back who joined Manchester City from Chelsea in January 2009. Wayne began his playing career with Southampton, for whom he went on to gain an FA Cup runners-up medal in 2003 prior to his move to Stamford Bridge. Initially a first choice with Chelsea, he won a Premier League champions? medal in 2004-05 and an FA Cup winners? medal two years later. However, following the arrival of Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge, he began to find first-team opportunities limited leading to his move north to Eastlands. Wayne became a regular for both Mark Hughes and Roberto Mancini with City, producing a series of consistent displays in defence. Cool and calm when defending he is particularly effective when pushing down the flank to support his attack. However, the arrival of Aleksander Kolarovin the summer of 2010 brought competition, and he spent the second half of the season on loan at West Ham. Wayne won his first cap for England against the Netherlands in 2002 and has appeared over 30 times for his country.
