Vincent Kompany is a midfield player who joined Manchester City in August 2008 as Mark Hughes’ third signing.

Vincent began his career with Anderlecht and subsequently played in the Bundesliga for SV Hamburg before joining City. An accomplished defensive midfielder who is just as comfortable in central defence, Vincent made an immediate impression at Eastlands with his all-round ability.

He was a regular in the line-up for most of the 2008-09 campaign before being sidelined by an injury that also kept him out of the opening matches of 2009-10. In 2010-11 Vincent featured in the centre of the back four, proving to be one of the Blues most consistent and popular players.

He captained City to success in the FA Cup semi-final over rivals Manchester United, which ultimately led to the Blues winning their first major trophy since the 1970s.

Vincent won his first cap for Belgium in February 2004 and has since made more than 30 international appearances.
