Vince Grella

Vince Grella is a defensive midfielder who joined Blackburn Rovers during the summer 2008 transfer window. A hard working player who is strong in the tackle, he is effective at closing down opponents and mopping up loose balls. Vince played his early football in Australia, but moved to Italy as a teenager and spent a decade playing with Empoli, Parma and Torino before coming to Ewood Park. However, his appearances for Rovers have been restricted somewhat by a series of niggling injuries, and this continued in 2010-11. He made only five Premier League appearances and his season ended prematurely when he underwent an operation on his achilles tendon. Vince won his first cap for Australia in February 2003 and has now made over 40 appearances for his country.
