Vassiriki Abou Diaby

A versatile attacking midfielder who joined Arsenal from Auxerre in January 2006.

Abou is an energetic player who is comfortable on the ball. His height, power and skills enable him to play in several different roles, although he is perhaps best used in a box-to-box role in the centre of the park. After having a bright start to life in North London, a serious ankle injury led to a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Abou missed much of the 2011-12 campaign due to ankle and hamstring problems and was restricted to just four outings as a substitute in the Barclays Premier League during the season.

He is a full international for France and has 15 full caps to date with the most recent coming in June 2011.
