Theo Walcott Biography
A talented young attacking player who joined Arsenal in January 2006.
A player with the pace to unsettle opposition defenders he is mostly used on the wing but can also play in a more central role. Theo had something of a stop-start season in 2009-10 when he was disrupted by injuries but he was back to his best form at the start of 2010-11 and a highlight came when he scored the final goal in the Gunners 3-1 win over Chelsea over the Christmas period.
Theo established himself as a regular starter in 2011-12 when he missed just three Barclays Premier League matches and finished with a double-figure goals tally for the season. He began his career with Southampton and became the Saints’ youngest-ever player when he lined up against Wolves at the age of 16 years and 143 days in August 2005.
He was selected for the England squad for the 2006 World Cup finals before he had made a top-flight appearance and he became the country’s youngest international cap when he came off the bench against Hungary in May 2006.
Two years later he achieved the distinction of netting a hat-trick for England in a 4-1 win in Croatia. He featured for England in Euro 2012, scoring in the game with Sweden when he came off the bench to inspire the team to victory.
