Sylvain Marveaux

A pacy winger who signed for Newcastle United in the summer of 2011.

Sylvain was eased into life on Tyneside, featuring in the Carling Cup games and initially from the bench in Barclays Premier League matches. He made his first League start against Everton at the beginning of November but promptly suffered an injury that required surgery.

It was not until towards the end of the season that he recovered match fitness and he returned to make a further appearance as a substitute on the final day of the campaign, also against the Toffees. Sylvain developed in the youth set-up at Rennes, progressing to a full professional contract and making over 100 first-team appearances before his move to Tyneside.

He was previously capped for France at U21 level.
