Sylvain Distin is a tall, strong central defender with Everton, who can also play at left back.

Signed by the Toffees in August 2009, he brought a wealth of experience to Goodison Park. Sylvain first played in the Premier League during a loan spell with Newcastle in the 2001-02 campaign.

He later spent five seasons with Manchester City, where he made just over 200 first-team appearances and won the club’s Player of the Season award in 2003. Next stop for Sylvain was Portsmouth, where he gained an FA Cup winners’ medal after Pompey’s defeat of Cardiff City in the 2008 final.

Sylvain has featured regularly for Everton since arriving at Goodison and was in excellent form during 2010-11 when he was a Premier League ever-present partnering Phil Jagielka in the centre of the Toffees’ defence.
