Steve Phillips is an experienced goalkeeper who signed for Crewe Alexandra in the summer of 2010 after a lengthy spell on loan at Gresty Road the previous season. Steve began his career at Bristol City and then had three seasons as first choice ?keeper at their neighbours Bristol Rovers. He found himself out of favour and after a loan spell at Shrewsbury Town he arrived at Crewe appearing regularly for the Alex through to the end of the campaign. Steve, who has completed 500 senior appearances during his career, missed the start of 2010-11 while recovering from a shoulder operation. He was fit again by October and was used as substitute ?keeper. His only two starts came when first choice Rhys Taylor was unavailable.
