Stephen Crainey is an experienced left back who signed for Blackpool in July 2007. Stephen is a consistent performer who is something of a specialist with free kicks. Although he missed much of the 2008-09 campaign through injury he has since been a regular in the line-up and was a member of the team that defeated Cardiff in the play-off final to clinch promotion to the Premier League. He retained his place throughout 2010-11 with the exception of a period from January when he was sidelined with an ankle injury. Stephen began his career as a junior with Celtic and later played for Leeds and Southampton before his move to Bloomfield Road.
