Sol Bamba is a powerful central defender who signed for Leicester City in the January 2011 transfer window, linking up once more with his former Ivory Coast coach, Sven-Göran Eriksson.

Sol, who can also play in central midfield, has pace and strength and is comfortable when bringing the ball out of defence.

 He made a sensational debut for the Foxes in the FA Cup tie with Manchester City when he scored with a thumping header in the first minute of the match.

Although Sol began his career in France with Paris St Germain, his career only took off when he moved to Scotland, firstly with Dunfermline and then with Hibs.

He was a regular with the Easter Road club until his move to Leicester. Sol represents Ivory Coast at international level and was a member of the squad for the 2010 World Cup finals.
