Simon Mignolet is a tall, young goalkeeper who joined Sunderland in the 2010 close season. He has previously spent five years playing in Belgium for his hometown club, Sint Truidense VV, where he earned a reputation as a promising talent. He was thrust into first-team action for the Black Cats in 2010-11 when regular ?keeper Craig Gordon was sidelined by injury and coped well with the pressure, featuring in over half the Premier League fixtures and keeping several clean sheets in the early part of the season. His form at club level earned him his first full caps for Belgium during the campaign. On 25 June 2013, Mignolet signed with Liverpool for a fee of £9m on a five-year deal. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hailed Mignolet as being "one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League"
