Player Details

A tall and commanding centre back, Shelton Martis joined Doncaster Rovers in January 2009 from West Bromwich Albion. Shelton, who has been capped by the Netherlands Antilles, had previously played for Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven and Hibernian amongst others. He enjoyed a brief but successful loan spell with Rovers in 2008-09. Shelton had a frustrating, stop-start season in 2010-11, despite being one of Sean O'Driscoll's first choices when fit. He was troubled by a hamstring problem, then suffered a bad ankle injury in January that kept him out for over two months. Shelton, who played at right back on several occasions, will need further surgery on his ankle and will miss the start of the 2011-12 campaign.
