Scott Wootton

A young defender currently on the books of Manchester United.

A tall and gritty centre back who has been a regular at the heart of defence for the club’s reserve side over the past two seasons, he has also impressed on loan at Tranmere Rovers, where two spells on loan last term saw him earn rave reviews during his first taste of senior football, and at Peterborough United, where he performed admirably in a struggling side last term.

Hailing from Merseyside, Scott spent his early teens in the Academy of United’s fierce rivals Liverpool before making the rare switch to the Red Devils in the summer of 2008.

His decision was vindicated in July 2009 when a season of consistent displays for Paul McGuinness’ academy side earned him a professional deal. Scott has been capped by England at U17 level, his last appearance coming during the 2007 Nordic Tournament in Denmark.
