Sammy Ameobi

A young attacking player who joined Newcastle United as a first-year academy player in July 2008.

Sammy is the younger brother of team mate Shola and has been used either as an attacking midfield player or a striker. He progressed through the U18s and reserves before making his Barclays Premier League debut at Chelsea in the final away game of 2010-11.

Sammy came off the bench late in the game to join his brother on the pitch - the first time in more than 50 years that two brothers have played in a league game for the Magpies. He continued to gain further experience with the Magpies in 2011-12 signing a new contract in November and making his first League start soon afterwards.

Sammy had a varied international career in 2011-12, featuring in friendly games for Nigeria U20s before winning his first cap for England U21s against Iceland.
