Sam Wedgbury is a defensive centre midfield player who signed for League Two club Macclesfield Town in July 2010. Sam appeared for non-league Worcester City as a 16-year-old before being taken on by Sheffield United in January 2006. He developed in the academy and reserve teams at Bramall Lane but was unable to break into the first-team squad. Sam gained experience during two loan spells with Hungarian club Ferencvaros before he was released in the summer of 2010. He made his Football League debut on the opening day of 2010-11 and added to his first- team experience before he was loaned to Conference club Altrincham in January 2011.
