Sam Togwell is a central midfield player who joined Scunthorpe United from Barnsley during the 2008 close season. Hard working and combative, he became a regular straight away, helping the Iron to reach the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final and gain promotion in his first season at Glanford Park. Since then, Sam has continued to be a frequent member of the Scunthorpe midfield, making over 60 Championship appearances for the club. Sam occasionally wore the captain's armband in the absence of the Iron's injured regular captain Cliff Byrne in 2010-1, while he also won the club's main Player of the Year award.
