Ryan Giggs Biography
A legendary winger who has spent his entire career with Manchester United.
The most decorated player in the history of English football, he has won a record 12 League titles, two Champions Leagues, four FA Cups and three League Cups in a glittering professional career that started way back in 1991.
Ryan broke into the United first team at the age of 17 and his ability to run with the ball at staggering pace soon gave opposing full backs nightmares and marked him down as one of the most promising and exciting young players in the country.
Over the course of the last two decades age and injuries have forced him to reinvent himself as a more cerebral, creative player, more reliant on his vision and clever passing, but he has achieved that feat with remarkable success, as shown by his selection as the 2009 PFA Player of the Year.
Ryan has scored over 150 goals for the Red Devils and has found the net in each of the 20 seasons since the start of the Premier League. Perhaps most impressively, in 2008 he overtook Sir Bobby Charlton as United’s all-time leading appearance maker, and with no end to his Old Trafford career in sight and Sir Alex Ferguson still heavily reliant on his services, he looks set to go on and set a mark that may never be troubled.
One of the best players never to have competed at a major international tournament, Ryan nevertheless enjoyed a lengthy international career with Wales, picking up 64 caps before his retirement from international football in 2007.
He gained his first experience of major tournament football in the summer of 2012, captaining the Great Britain team to a place in the quarter finals of the London Olympic Games.
