Player Details

Rory Delap is an industrious midfield player with Stoke City who is famed for his powerful long throws, which can create havoc in any opposition defence. Rory began his career as a trainee with Carlisle United, also playing for Derby County, Southampton and Sunderland before joining Stoke on loan in October 2006, the transfer being made permanent the following January. He went on to become a regular in the side that won promotion to the Premier League and since then he has been a key figure in the centre of the park for the Potters. Rory was a near ever-present in 2010-11 and gained an FA Cup runners-up medal as a member of the team defeated by Manchester City in the Wembley final. He has made over 500 senior appearances to date and won 11 caps for the Republic of Ireland, the most recent coming in 2004.
