Player Details
Alex is a big, powerful central defender playing for Chelsea. Whilst he has never quite been first choice since arriving at Stamford Bridge in August 2007 he has offered crucial cover for John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho at the heart of the Blues' defence, and with Carvalho's departure to Real Madrid in 2010, he became first choice alongside Terry. After playing for Santos in Brazil, Alex joined PSV Eindhoven for three years before heading to England. A tremendously strong individual, he is deceptively quick across the ground and is famed for his thunderous free kicks, particularly from long range, but has suffered his fair share of injuries in London.
