Robbie Savage is a veteran midfield player who added experience to Derby County after signing for the Rams in January 2008.

Although he lost his place under the managership of Paul Jewell he was restored to the team on the arrival of Nigel Clough and did not look back. Robbie was appointed club captain and his form in 2009-10 earned him the Rams' Player of the Year award.

Robbie continued to feature regularly during 2010-11 and in October reached the landmark of 600 career appearances when he played against Preston North End, marking the occasion by netting a last-minute penalty to seal a 3-0 win. The season proved to be his last as a player as he announced his retirement at the end of the campaign.

He started out as a trainee at Manchester United but failed to make the senior team at Old Trafford. His career took off when he joined Crewe and he has since had spells at Leicester, Birmingham and Blackburn. Robbie earned 39 full caps for Wales making his final international appearance in 2005.
