Peter Murphy is Carlisle United's longest serving player having joined the Cumbrians back in 2001. Peter has now made over 400 first-team appearances for the club, most often in recent years as a centre back, but he has also featured at left back and in midfield. After relatively little first-team action in the previous campaign, he returned to prominence in 2010-11 with a regular berth in central defence. With his propensity for being in the right place at the right time, he scored a number of goals, often from set piece moves. Of these, none was more valuable than the one he scored at Wembley to secure the Johnstone?s Paint Trophy for the Cumbrians in the same week in which he also became a father for the first time.
