Patrick McCarthy Biography

Central defender Paddy McCarthy was appointed as the new captain of Crystal Palace for the 2010-11 campaign following the departure of Sean Derry. Despite having a series of different partners alongside him in the heart of the defence, Paddy enjoyed an effective season in 2010-11. Once Anthony Gardner claimed that central defensive berth alongside him, the pair formed a key partnership which shored up the back line and made a significant contribution to keeping Palace in the Championship. His only goal during the season came in the 2-1 defeat at Ipswich in April.
