Nathan Baker Biography

A versatile young defender who signed his first professional contract with Aston Villa in September 2008 after graduating from the club's academy.

Nathan is an aggressive, positive player who is a strong tackler and uses his height to good effect. He gained his first experience of senior football in a loan spell with npower League Two club Lincoln City in the 2009-10 season, but it was not until January 2011 that he broke into the Villa first team.

He made further progress in 2011-12, gaining experience during a loan spell with Millwall and then making several Barclays Premier League appearances for Villa after Richard Dunne was sidelined with a broken collarbone.

Nathan appeared for England in the FIFA U20 World Cup in the summer of 2011 and also featured for the U21s in 2011-12.
