Matt Oakley is an experienced holding midfielder who joined Leicester City in January 2008.

Matt began his career at Southampton and spent 12 seasons with the Saints before moving to Derby at the start of the 2006-07 season.

He captained the Rams to promotion, before switching to East Midlands rivals Leicester in January 2008. Matt played in every game for the rest of the season but was unable to prevent the team’s relegation.

The 2008-09 campaign brought happier times with Matt being a near ever-present as City secured the League One title.

Matt captained the side in 2010-11, making his 500^th senior appearance at Millwall at the end of December, although his campaign was affected by niggling injuries.
