Marc Albrighton

A young winger who came up through the ranks with Aston Villa.

After playing in the Villa side that reached the FA Youth Cup semi-final in 2008, Marc made his senior debut in the UEFA Cup away to CSKA Moscow in February 2009. Two months later he made the first of his two appearances for the England U20 side and played a leading role in Villa’s success in winning the pre-season Peace Cup tournament in Spain.

Marc is particularly effective at delivering crosses into the danger zone and although principally a right-sided player he can also feature on the left flank. He had a slow start to the 2011-12 season and was mostly restricted to appearances from the bench until breaking into the line-up in December. Later that month he had the honour of scoring the 20,000th goal in the Barclays Premier League, thus earning the local Acorns charity a sum of £20,000.

He has been capped eight times for England U21s.
