Luis Suarez

An exciting forward who joined Liverpool from Ajax in the January 2011 transfer window.

Luis is a supreme creator of goal opportunities, unselfish in front of goal and an inspiration to his colleagues with his enthusiasm and work rate. He took a short period of time to settle in at Anfield, but was a regular in 2011-12 apart from a spell out through suspension.

Luis found the net regularly throughout the season finishing as the club’s top scorer. His total included his first hat-trick for the club scoring all three in the win at Norwich City in April. Luis began his career in Uruguay with Nacional before moving to the Netherlands where he played firstly for Groningen and then Ajax.

Luis was a member of the Uruguay squad for the 2010 World Cup finals and also helped his country win the Copa America in the summer of 2011, finishing as leading scorer and Player of the Tournament.

As an over-age player he was included in the Uruguay squad for the London 2012 Olympic Games captaining the team in all three group matches.
