Joleon Lescott Biography
A solid defender for Manchester City who is most effective in the centre of defence, but can also play at left back.
Joleon spent his formative years with Wolves, making his senior debut shortly before his 18th birthday. He soon established himself as a regular at Molineux and a series of solid and consistent performances earned him a move to Everton in the summer of 2006.
He continued to enhance his reputation at Goodison, winning the club’s Player of the Year award in 2007-08 and becoming a key figure in the centre of defence for David Moyes’ side. In August 2009 Joleon completed his transfer to City. After taking a little time to settle in to his new surroundings he was soon back to his very best. However, he started the 2010-11 season on the bench it was only after Christmas that he was more involved, becoming a key figure as City won the FA Cup and achieved a top-three finish.
He remained an influential figure at the back in 2011-12 contributing to City’s sensational Barclays Premier League title success.
Joleon won his first cap for England against Estonia in 2007 and was a member of the squad for Euro 2012, scoring in the 1-1 draw with France.
