John Utaka is a striker who joined Portsmouth in the summer of 2007. Also able to play on the wing John has speed, good ball control and the ability to create space for others.

He featured regularly in his first season at Fratton Park, appearing in the FA Cup final against Cardiff when he laid on the winner for Kanu.

However, he was mostly used from the bench in the following two seasons, before returning to the line-up in 2010-11. John, who has represented Nigeria at international level, left Fratton Park in the January 2011 transfer window, signing for French club Montpellier.
