He made his Football League debut for the Lions at the age of 17 when he was introduced as a second half substitute at Bristol Rovers in September 2009. John made his first start of the 2010-11 season in the home game against Norwich City in November and it was his last-gasp goal that gave Millwall a 1-1 draw. Thereafter, John's involvement was minimal until the last five games of the season. After scoring against Preston he followed this with a brace in the 2-1 victory at Scunthorpe on Easter Monday.
