Joe Widdowson is a left back who signed for Rochdale in 2010 as a replacement for the departed Tom Kennedy. He began the 2010-11 campaign in the line-up and retained his place for much of the season. Joe began his career at West Ham United where he was in the academy before stepping up to sign a full professional contract. During his time with the Hammers he was unable to break into the first team but gained experience while out on loan. He then spent two seasons as a regular with Grimsby Town before his move to Spotland. Joe is a strong defender who has the energy and pace to get up and down the flank.
