Player Details

Jay Spearing is a young midfield player currently on the books of Liverpool. Although he began his career as a defender, Jay has now converted to a central midfield role. He is a commanding figure in the centre of the park with an all-action style. A graduate of the club?s academy, Jay captained the Reds to victory in the FA Youth Cup in 2007 signing a professional contract soon afterwards. He was then a member of the side that won the Premier Reserve League title in 2007-08 before making his debut from the bench in a Champions? League game against PSV Eindhoven in December 2008. Jay went on to enjoy a real breakthrough season at Anfield in 2010-11. Taking advantage of Steven Gerrard?s absence through injury, he featured in the starting line-up for the final nine games of the season showing excellent form. On the final day of the 2012 summer transfer window, Jay agreed to spend the 2012/13 season on loan at Bolton. 2011 - PFA Player Profiles
