James Perch Biography

A versatile defender who joined Newcastle United in July 2010.

James competed for the right-back position with Danny Simpson but is capable of playing in the centre of defence or in midfield. James made his debut for the Magpies at Old Trafford in August 2010 and made a number of appearances in the first half of the season but after that struggled to get into the starting line-up until towards the end of 2011 when he returned following a long-term injury to Steven Taylor.

He began his career at Nottingham Forest, making his senior debut as an 18-year-old. James made over 200 first-team appearances for Forest before his move to Tyneside.
