James Tarkowski is a young central defender who was a second-year scholar with Oldham Athletic in 2010-11. James had a difficult first year at Boundary Park and at one stage had both feet in plaster. He has since recovered and after some excellent performances for the youth and reserve teams he stepped up to the first team, making his senior debut as a substitute against Brentford in January 2011. He added further appearances for the Latics later in the season and signed his first professional contract for the club in May 2011.
