Heurelho Gomes is a charismatic goalkeeper who signed for Tottenham Hotspur in July 2008. He quickly won over the fans at White Hart Lane with a string of superb saves and is firmly established as the club's number one 'keeper. His heroic performances contributed to Spurs excellent defensive record at home in 2008-09 - just ten Premiership goals conceded - and he has since continued in similar vein. Heurelho was again first choice ?keeper in 2010-11 when he was a near ever-present in both the Premier League and the Champions' League. Heurelho has an effective physical presence that enables him to dominate his area, while his speed of movement and flexibility enable him to make superb reflex saves. He also possesses an exceptionally long throw which is often more effective than a kick out when setting his team on the offensive. He began his career in Brazil with Cruzeiro, later assisting PSV Eindhoven to four consecutive domestic titles. Heurelho has nine full caps for Brazil, for whom he featured in the 2003 Gold Cup tournament. © 2011 - PFA Player Profiles
