Graham Coughlan is a mature centre back who joined Southend United in July 2010 after being released by Shrewsbury Town. A wholehearted defender, Graham previously enjoyed an extensive career with Blackburn Rovers, Livingston, Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham prior to his stint with Shrewsbury. Now in the twilight of his playing career Graham was expected to provide experienced cover for a young Southend United squad while taking his first steps into coaching, but featured regularly for the Shrimpers in the second half of the season.
