Player Details

Gary Caldwell is a centre back who signed for Wigan Athletic from Celtic in January 2010. Gary is a strong character who is solid in the tackle and a good reader of the game. He captained the Wigan team in 2010-11, but missed the start of the campaign after undergoing surgery for a hip problem only returning to action in October. Gary began his career as a trainee with Newcastle, but it was only when he moved on to Hibernian in January 2004 that he experienced regular first-team football. He then joined Celtic and during his time at Parkhead the club won the SPL title twice, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup. He currently has over 40 caps for Scotland.
