Gareth Barry is a box-to-box midfielder for Manchester City who is equally comfortable playing either at left back or centre back. Gareth was attached to Brighton as a youngster before moving to Aston Villa as a trainee in 1997. He went on to make well over 400 appearances for the Midlands club during his 12-year stay, serving for a time as club captain. In the summer of 2009 Gareth left Villa Park to sign for City. He was a near ever-present in the line-up in 2009-10 and has gone on to become a key figure in City?s progress towards the upper reaches of the Premier League table and their FA Cup success in 2011.
