Florent Malouda Biography
A left-sided attacking player who signed for Chelsea in July 2007. His formative years were spent in France with Chateauroux and Guingamp before a move to Lyon.
Florent became a key member of the team, helping them win four straight league titles. He initially struggled to adapt to his new surroundings at Stamford Bridge, his best spell coming during the reign of Guus Hiddink, when he played a key role in Chelsea’s run to the Champions League semi-finals and success in the FA Cup, providing pace and brilliant crossing from the left wing, and added some goals to boot.
The arrival of Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge saw Florent adopt a more central role in the formation, and he scored a career-best 15 goals as the Blues won the Premier League title in 2009-10. He followed that with 13 League goals in 2010-11.
In 2011-12 he was less of a contributor, with Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Di Matteo preferring more dynamic attacking options, but he remains a useful squad player. Florent made his debut for France in 2004 and currently has 80 caps.
