Fabricio Coloccini Biography

A solid central defender who joined Newcastle United in August 2008.

Fabricio has produced consistent performances for the Magpies since his arrival and was a key player in the team that won promotion back to the top flight. He formed an effective defensive partnership with Mike Williamson and was a near ever-present in 2010-11.

Fabricio was appointed captain for the 2011-12 season and showed superb form at the back throughout the season when he missed just three League matches. He was rewarded for his efforts with a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season. Fabricio began his career with Boca Juniors before moving to Europe in 1999 to join AC Milan. He later had three years playing in Spain for Deportivo La Coruna.

He was in the Argentina team that won the 2004 Olympic Games tournament and now has over 30 caps for his country.
