Fabian Delph Biography

A young midfield player who joined Aston Villa from Leeds United in the summer of 2009.

A box-to-box player, Fabian is a hard tackler and always gives 100 per cent effort. He made his name at Elland Road, winning the Football League Young Player of the Year award for 2008-09 before his move to the Midlands. Fabian made his Villa debut against Wigan on the opening day of the 2009-10 season and became a regular member of the first-team squad before suffering a serious knee injury in training.

He eventually returned to action towards the end of 2010-11, coming into the team at full back as well as in midfield. Fabian was in the starting line-up for the opening game of 2011-12 and made a number of appearances in the first half of the season before losing his place. In January he rejoined Leeds on loan but suffered an injury in his fifth game back at Elland Road and this ended his season.

Fabian has been capped for England at U19 and U21 levels.
