Dean Winnard is a young defender who signed for Accrington Stanley in the 2009 close season. Dean made his debut on the opening day of the 2009-10 season and was an ever present in the starting line-up until missing the final two games of the campaign. He mainly appeared at left back but was also used as a central defender. Dean continued to feature in the team during 2010-11 and missed just one League game during the campaign. He developed in the academy at Blackburn Rovers going on to captain the Premiership club's U18s. He became a regular in the reserves at Ewood Park but was released in the summer of 2009 at the end of a one-year contract.
