Davide Somma is a striker who joined Leeds United at the end of August 2009 after impressing in a trial. Davide went on to score twice in his reserve-team debut and was promoted to the first-team squad in October when he came on as a substitute in the Johnstone?s Paint Trophy clash with Darlington. He then spent time out on loan, firstly with Chesterfield and then at Lincoln where he proved a revelation, scoring at almost a goal a game and ensuring the club stayed clear of relegation problems. Back at Elland Road for the 2010-11 season, Davide had to be patient for first-team opportunities due to the competition for places but his final tally of 11 goals from 12 starts confirmed he could score goals at a higher level. In November 2010 he made his international debut for South Africa against the United States.
