David De Gea

A hugely talented young goalkeeper who plays for Manchester United.

Prodigiously gifted for such a young stopper, the Spaniard overcame a jittery start to life in England – not to mention a legion of doubters - following his move from hometown club Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 to cement his reputation as one of the finest goalkeeping prospects around with a series of excellent displays in the second half of last season.

This should have been of little surprise to those who saw his performances with Atletico, for whom he was starting and excelling – notably in a Europa League final – at the age of just 19.

Possessing outstanding reflexes, terrific maturity and footballing ability most outfield players would be envious of, David looks set to be a worthy successor to Edwin van der Sar in the United goal and already has Iker Casillas looking over his shoulder at international level.

For now, the young Madridista is a stalwart of Spain’s Under 21 side, the current European Champions.
