David Bentley

A winger who joined Tottenham Hotspur from Blackburn Rovers in July 2008.

David started his career in the Arsenal Academy, where he was often used in a central-midfield role, but since then he has usually played on the right-hand side in senior football. David has excellent ball control, and good passing and crossing skills to his game. In his early days at White Hart Lane he was a regular in the side, but he has been out of the first-team picture in recent seasons.

He missed the start of 2010-11 through injury and made his only Barclays Premier League start for the club against Sunderland in November. David was loaned to Birmingham City for the second half of the season and in August 2011 joined West Ham United on a season-long loan.

However, he suffered a serious knee injury during a training session that ruled him out from early October. He returned to White Hart Lane, but although he eventually recovered fitness he did not add to his appearance total.

He has been capped seven times for England's senior team, his most recent appearance coming as a substitute against the Czech Republic in August 2009.
