David Luiz is a central defender who joined Chelsea in January 2011. A product of Vitória in his home country, having been released by Sao Paulo as a youngster, David was not a big name in domestic Brazilian football but in 2007 he joined Benfica after a successful short-term loan. David flourished in Portugal and became as well known for his rambunctious and thrill-seeking attacking football as he was for his outlandish hairstyle. He moved to Stamford Bridge in a big-money move which saw Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic move the other way and was an instant hit in West London, scoring his first goal for the club against Manchester United. David made his debut for Brazil against the United States in August 2010. © 2011 - PFA Player Profiles
